The We Are Fire Toolkit uses a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach that involves applying Indigenous-led fire practices and settler and state-led fire management in the Saskatchewan River Delta. This approach includes everything from hands-on and lived experiences, wise practices about fire reconciliation, lessons learned about partnerships across cultures and organizations to resources for pre-planning, developing and implementing Indigenous-led fire prescriptions.

The Toolkit provides a focus for readers to assess, develop, apply and report on an Indigenous-led fire prescription.

You can use the Toolkit in tandem with the wise practices, techniques and resources informed by your group or community’s rationale and objectives for uses of fire on the land for your specific site and region.

For the We Are Fire Toolkit, we are using the Saskatchewan River Delta as the area to explore the application of Indigenous-led fire practices and settler and state-led fire management.
